MATAU NEWS.

A euchre and dance party in aul the Matau Hall funds was held on U ridav. It was a moonlight night and the roads were in excellent condition, so numbers of visitors were present, which added a great deal to the gaiety Of the evening. Visitors were present from Pohokura, Ngatimaru, Purangi and Kiorc. The prizes for the euchre, don ated by Mr. and Mrs. H. Larsen, were won bv Mrs. W. Bertrand, Purangi, and Mr. K. Muniby. . Mr. Mumby won after playing-off with Air. L. Mounsey. Pohokura, each having 6| games. Auer supper Mr. Larsen presented the pnzes and then there. was dancing. Music was supplied by Messrs M. Jensen. E.-Ev-ans, A. Smeilie and L. Mouhsey. The vicar, the Rev. H. S. Dann tan, will be absent from Taranaxi east frun. August 28 to September 6.
