Seven persons were killed and over 150 injured in fierce rioting between Hindus and Moslems in Sukknr, a town in Sind, which is at present overcrowded by refugees from the flooded areas. Hindus stoned the Moslem mosque, upon which a crowd of infuriated Moslems, armed with axes, knives and bainoo poles, attacked Hindu merchants and looted their shops. Combatants were eventually separated by the police, who fired on the mob. Five more were killed and many injured when the police fired to quell a riot between Hindus and Moslems at Ballia. a town in the United Provinces. A Hindu procession of several thousand, which passed the Moslem mosque in defiance of a police ban, was attacked by hundreds of angry Moslems armed with bamboos. The Baluch landowners of Dera Ghazi Khan have offered the Punjab Government 20’00 men, including 500 horsemen, for use considering the disturbed conditions throughout the coun-. try. The landowners state that Baluchian faith in British justice and loyalty to the Crown is steadfast and unriiaken.
