conference opened at timaru By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The annual conference of the League of Nations Union of New Zealand was Opened here this afternoon, moat branohej being represented. The delegates were accorded a civic reception by the Mayor, Mr. W. Angland, and a welcome was extended the visitors by the Rev. Cladstone Hughes, president of the local branch, and by the Rev. Clyde Carr, MJ?. The welcome was acknowledged on behalf of the delegates by the Rev. J. Gibb, D.D., Wellington, Dominion president. Following the presidental address the conference adjourned until to-morrow. In the evening a public meeting was held. Four addresses were given on the relationship of the League of Nations to churches, schools, workers and New Zealand. The conference will be continued to-morrow and Friday.
