GOVERNOR MEETS MAORIS
PRESENTATION OF NATIVE MATS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, June 11. Lady Bledisloe visited the hospitals this morning and walked through the various wards, shaking hands with all the patients. At noon their Excellencies were met by members of the Maori race from up the Wanganui River and were presented with piu piu mats, and also with an address from young Maori people set in a carved frame representing the entrance to a wharepuni. Lord Bledisloe thanked the Maoris for their gifts and their demonstration of Unswerving loyalty to the King and Empire.
