NEW POLITICAL PARTY
MR. W. D. LYSNAR IMPRESSED. INDEPENDENT REFORM BODY. Mr. W. D. Lysnar, M.P., stated at Gisborne the other day that the new Independent Reform organisation was not to be despised. Mr. Lysnar stated that so far as he had been able to define the objects of the Independent Reform organisation it expressed just the standpoint he had adopted since his entry into poltics, namely the placing of the interests of the country before those of any particular party allegiance, Mr. Lysnar pointed out that the new organisation was somewhat similar in its ideals to that formed in Wellington some time ago. The Wellington organisation’s object was to secure the nomination of independent candidates, and the difference between that object and the Canterbury movement was that the latter wished to have Independent Reform candidates nominated.
The member for Gisborne said .he understood the Wellington association to be still in existence and fairly strong, though he did not know to what extent it had been able to spread its political tenets.
Mr. Lysnar stated that he had not been approached with an invitation to accept membership in the new Independent Reform party.
