SAMOAN POLICY DISCUSSED
MEETING OF DEBATING SOCIETY. There was an attendance of more than 30 at the second debate of the New Plymouth Debating Society last night. The proposition was "That the present policyof the New Zealand Government in ■Samoa is justified.” Messrs, R. Howell and A. C.''Fboke’s took the affirmative and Messrs. R. J. Brqkenshire and E. J; L. Payne the negative.' After a full discussion by other members of the society the judge, SV. Gordon Fraser, delivered a witty and instinctive criticism. Mr. H. W. Insull, the chairman, moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Fraser. The meeting on June 20 will take a different form from the ordinary debates. Members have been asked to prepare speeches not to exceed ten minutes in length on any subject they please. The chairman for the evening will decide upon the order in which they are to speak.
