Antony, who- resides at Mr. McLean’s Matawhero property, returned home on Sunday he found that the residence had been broken into and a rifle, cartridges and a supply of canned foods taken. Mr. Antony found tracks leading foi’ some distance up the river. On Saturday night another resident, Mr. Piripi, Kohunui, had a rifle and axe removed from his premises.

Late on Sunday night two rifle shots were fired over another dwelling, in the vicinity. The incident seriously alarmed the occupants. The two youths were seen at midday on Monday by several children. A large number of residents under the direction of Constable Sleeth, Martinborough, is scouring the district with the object of apprehending the culprits.
