PUBLIC LOSS TO BE AVOIDED ! Million pounds' fund assumed. DATE OF SETTLEMENT NOT FIXED. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Rec. 9.55 p.m. London, Jan. 16. It is oflicially announced that of the fund of £1,090,300 required to save the public from loss in the Hatry debacle brokers directly concerned have contributed £BOO,OOO. Banks and members of the Stock Exchange not directly interested are making good the deficiency, estimated at £200.000 to date. The actual date of the final settlement is not yet fixed.
