TO HELP THE WOOL TRADE
BRITISH REPORT ON RESEARCH. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Condon, Dec. 2.4. The report of the British Research Association of the woollen and worsted industries suggests that Dominion wool producers* should contribute £25,000 towards research work, which should be directed to the standardisation of the best quality, aiding the marketing of wool, the superiority of which as a textile was undeniable. Special investigations are needed under three heads: (1) The development of new processes and methods of manipulation; (2) experiments on nutrition, as these have already shown the possibility of the production of mutton and fine wool on the same sheep; (3) research into the scientific health value of wool fibres. The trouble is that, with limited financial resources, tire. Research Association is now spending over £25,000 yearly, therefore it suggests that the producing sido of the industry should contribute an equivalent amount.
