CHRISTMAS EVE AT INGLEWOOD.

Inglewood business people all appeared to have a busy time on Christmas Eve. Aa usual the day was a. red letter one for the children, because arrangements had been made for Father Christmas to visit the town and distribute a bag of sweets to each children. It had rained intermittently during the morning but at 2 o’clock, when it was announcM that Father Christmas had reached the environs of Inglewood, the sun was shining brightly and there was a great concourse of children and a large gathering of adults.

In these modern days of hustle Father Christmas has to keep abreast of the times and he arrived per medium of the fire engine. After a toiir of the business arga the calvacade drew up at the band rotunda, where a cordial welcome was extended to the venerable gentlemen by Mr.: W. J. Polson, M.P. Mr. Polson assured Father Christmas that all the girls and boys of Inglewood had behaved themselves arid were well worthy of receiving a present, whereupon Father Christmas (Mr. O. Crossman) presented each of them ' with a bag of sweets of an orange. From that time the weather was showery, but nevertheless the crowd appeared to be in good hrimour and both in the afternoon and evening good business, resulted,. . . .. . -
