The green will be declared open for play at 2 p.m. The following players will comprise the ladies’ team to play against the Wanganui ladies’ team at King Edward Park, Hawera, at 2.45 p.m., to-day: Goal, Miss M. Prime and J. .McGlashan. Repairs to the steel overflow piping of the Hawera water tower are being effected by borough workmen under the supervision of the engineer. Natural wear has rendered replacement necessary but, in order to afford improved convenience for inspection and possible future repairs, the present work will - embody an alteration of the overflow system. The new design provides for the piping to pass outside the tanks instead of passing directly through the upper and lower tanks respectively. The pipe from the upper tank will descend on the outside of the structure and empty into the upper portion of the lower tank, while from the lower tank the pipe leading from the high water level will also traverse the outer portion of the tower and empty into the main outlet column at a point below the tank. The work has been so arranged that water is retained in the tower as a reserve supply and in case of fire. During the absentee of the Rev. R. B. Gosnell in the Hawera circuit over the week-end, his appointments will be taken in New Plymouth by the ReV. E. S. Emmitt, M.C., late of the British Conference.
