Reports ' to-day state the Soviet forces opened a strong offensive on Maneliuli with a cavalry charge and the Chinese outposts under artillery barrage at midnight. At ten past two they w-eie driven off, leaving a large number of casualties. Again at daybreak the Russians commenced intensive shelling of the Chinese lines. Six Soviet aeroplanes were dropping bombs, resulting in between 50 and 100 casualties. Important - developments’ of the SinoSoviet situation are expected shortly.
