TAWA FLAT DEVIATION
ONE TUNNEL COMPLETED.

Wellington, July 23. The Public Works Department report in connection with the Tavva Flat railway deviation is that the bottom head of No. 1 tunnel has been completed riHit through its length of 63 chains. The line and level when the headings met were absolutely correct. It is hoped that this tunnel will be completed within twelve months, and. that by that time the heading work in No. 2 tunnel, 2 miles 53 chains, will be completed. It is considered that excellent progress is being made with the work.
