LIFE ALLEGEDLY IN DANGER
“NECESSITIES NOT SUPPLIED.”
By Telegraph—Press Association
Auckland, Last Night.
A charge of an unusual nature was preferred against Peter Alexander Elinsley, a fanner aged 62, in the Police Court to-day. It was alleged that within the past four years and particularly between June 18 and June 19, at Waerenga, being in charge of Letitia Ann Elmsley, a person who was unable from fear and weakness to withdraw herself from his charge and provide herself with the necessities of life, he did without lawful excuse neglect to supply her with such necessities so that her life was endangered by such neglect. The magistrate, Mr. F, K. Hunt, asked where accused’s family was. “Accused's wife is in the Salvation Army Home at present and the two eldest children are in the care of the Child Welfare Department,” said ChiefDetective Hammond. “There are two others in Auckland.” Accused was remanded until Friday. The magistrate fixed bail at two sureties of £250 each.
