WAREA LOSES SETTLERS

FAREWELL TO THE JOHNS FAMILY.

There was a large gathering in the Warea- Hall last night when the residents of the district gave a valedictory social and dance to Mr. and Mrs. F. Johns and family, who are shortly leaving to take up a farm on the Richmond Road, Inglewood. During the 10 years they have lived in Warea they were closely associated with the social life of the district, and were very popular residents. During th© evening, on behalf of the local settlers, Mr. T. Fowles, chairman of the social committee, presented Mr. and Mrs. Johns with two upholstered easy chairs, the Misses Nellie and Lily Johns with a manicure set each, and Messrs William and Edgar Johns with a fountain pen each. * , The family would be sorely missed from Warea, said Mr. Fowles. Mr. and Mrs. Johns had always been in the forefront in any movement either for the advancement of the district or for the social enjayment of the settlers. They and their sons and daughters had always taken their share of work in connection with the gatherings in the hall, and their absence in the future would be keenly felt. He hoped, however, that occasionally they would spfiro the time to revisit their old friends. Brief replies were made, after whicn the gathering sang "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” aiid cheered the guests. Dancing occupied the rest cf the evening, the music being supplied by’ Gilhooley, with extras by the Misses K. and F. Julian. Supper was sen cd by a ladies’ committee.
