“EARTHQUAKE RELIEF” BALL.

Within the Stratford town hall last night, on the occasion of the earthquake relief fund committee’s ball, all was mirth and merriment while Boulton s competent orchestra dispensed catchy melody to which dainty evening shoes and pumps alike tripped in perfect harmony. Innumerable coloured streamers, fernery, electric lights and Chinese lanterns were suspended above a scene at once festive and picturesque, and wheie the various-coloured dresses contrasted with the more sombre hues of the men s raiment. There was a large attendance and it is expected that the relief fund will benefit substantially from the function.
