The greatest tragedy in the history of Ruling occurred yesterday, when a large Chinese- 'hotel collapsed on the mountain side, following continued heavy downpours of rain, and buried 33 Chinese in the ruins. Five women and three men were extricated severely injured. The others are all beyond aid. The hotel was of three storeys, and was built on the mountain side. A famous health resort, it was patronised extensively this summer.
