Keith Anderson, who with Mr. R. S. Hitchcock lost his life iu the search for tho Southern Cross during its first attempt to return to England. The body was laying in state yesterday in the Mosman Presbyterian Church and Lieut. Anderson was accorded a full military funeral. An enormous crowd witnessed the interment at a special site on St. George’s Heights, overlooking the entrance of the harbour, given by the Mosman municipality. Representatives were present of the Navy, Army and Air Force, also local public bodies. Three motor hearses were filled with floral wreaths, which included one from the All Blaeirs. Pathetic figures among the mourners were Mrs. Anderson, Lieut. Keith’s mother, and Miss Hilliard, his fiancee. No funeral of recent years has stimulated such widespread sympathy and interest, men and -women were in tears both at the church and the graveside. A fine wreath was received from the Southern Cross crew and a beautiful floral aeroplane from Mr. John Cantor, who backed Lieut. Anderson’s venture.
