To-day’s teams’ results at Wimbledon assure an all French final retention of the championship for the sixth year in succession. Austin was ineffective against Borotra. Cochet owes his victory not only to magnificent tennis, returning apparently untakeable shots, but to Tilden’s mistaken strategy of expending his energy in fierce services. In” the men’s semi-finals Cochet beat Tilden 6—4, 6—l, 7—5. In the ladies’ quarter-final, Miss Ridlay beat Mrs. Bundy 6—3, 6—2. Borotra beat Austin in the men’s gcmi-final 6—l, 10 —8, 5—7, 6 —l.
In the men’s doubles quarter finals Lott and Hennessey beat Cliff and Kingsley 6 —3, 11 —9, 5 —7, 6—2. In the mixed doubles quarter finals Gregory and Miss Ryan beat Allison and Helen Jacobs 6 —o, 9 —7, and in the second round Cochet and Miss Bennett beat Tilden and Mrs. Mallory 7 —5, 6 —3.
