CHILDREN'S PARTY
, ENJOYABLE WESTOWN’ FUNCTION. With the twofold object of giving the children of the district an enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment and assisting the Westown Hall funds, the ladies' committee of the Westown Hall Society organised a children’s party on Saturday afternoon. It proved such a success that no doubt it will prove the forerunner of others. Not only did the children to the number of 120 or more spend a memorable afternoon, but the hall funds will also benefit. The ladies of the committee, assisted by a number of other adults, saw to it that the afternoon passed pleasantly with polkas, waltzes and other popular dances for which music was provided by Mrs. R. Gredig and Mrs. M. Knofflock, and with various games, all entering into them with joyous abandon. Fancy paper hats given to each youngster gave a carnival atmosphere. The feature that appealed most to | the children was perhaps the splendid ; afternoon tea which was set out in the I spacious supper-room, the tables being | well supplied with jellies, cakes, soft i drinks,. etc., in bounteous supply, sufliI eient to resist the vigorous attacks made lon them by the healthy young army. Prior to leaving for home each child was the recipient of a bag of sweets. Practically everything was donated by residents of the district and the local storekeepers. The committee responsible for organising the function comprised Mesdames R. Gredig (president), 11. Marfell, 0. Knofflock, Misses M. Knofflock, C, James, C. Johnson and Bennett (2). The hall committee is certainly fortunate in having the cooperation of such an energetic ladies’ committee. During the afternoon Messrs R. Gredig, president of the hall committee, V. C. Davies, secretary, and N. Knofflock also assisted.
