RADIUM POISONED GIRLS

THEIR CONDITION INCURABLE. NO HOPE OF COMPENSATION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. United Service London, May 15. The statute of limitations will apparently prevent five Jersey factory girls, who are dying from radium poisoning, from making further progress in their suits against the United States Radium Corporation. These five contracted their malady between 1917 and 1920, each painting 250 watch dials daily and wetting their brushes with their lips between the strokes. Last year the first symptoms of poisoning appeared, but the statute of limitations provides that only two years may elapse between an injury and claims.

Before the decision was rendered today several physicians testified that nothing ean be done for them. Their bones are so badly eaten that, they cannot live another year. Three had married since their factory days and have children.
