ROMANCE OF BALLROOM
KAISER'S SISTER TO MARRY ECCENTRIC AND WEALTHY HUSBAND 35 YEARS JUNIOR By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 17, 7.55 p.m. London, Oct. 16. The Daily Mail’s Berlin correspondent says the ex-Kaiser’s sister, Princess Victoria Schaumburglippe, who is a widow, aged 61, reputedly eccentric and wealthy, recently contracted a ballroom friendship with a Russian, Monsieur Subow, aged 26. He at first dressed well, was flush of money, but eventually pawned his clothes and other property to subsist. Then disappeared after making a forlorn effort to restore his fortunes in cheap gaming clubs. He returned in a fortnight, resplendently tailored and bejewelled, and began plunging heavily at the gaming tables. The police, becoming suspicious, made inquiries which elicited the fact that Subow was affianced to Victoria, who insisted that l.e dress and live in a style compatible with his position. The ex-Kaiser has consented to the marriage, which takes place in November.
