BAPTIST CHURCHES CONFER

REPORTS ON ACTIVITIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual conference of the Baptist Union of New Zealand was continued to-day. The greater part of the morning was occupied with a discussion of the report of file Home Missions Board. The report stated that the board recognised the embarrassment of having several funds operating, but believed that a special home mission forward movement fund was most urgent and necessary. The board was asked to bring down definite proposals at to-day’s session. The sustentation report was given by the general secretary (the Rev. D. Calder) and the Press and literature committee report by Rev. J. Laird. The proposals of the latter were remitted to the incoming executive. The following committee was appointed to go into the matter of lire insurance on churches: Messrs. Andrews, Dearsley, Grave, Bartley, Lambourne and Rev. L. B. Busfield.

It was agreed that the redrafting of the rules of the annuity fund should be left to a committee. Resolutions adverse to artificial hare coursing and the Gaming Amendment Bill were passed. The board of advice was instituted as follows: The president, secertary ami Mr. J. R. Carey.
