THE LIQUIDATION OF ARCOS AN APPEAL FOR MORE TIME QUESTIONS IN COMMONS By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright, Received May 31, 7 p.m. London, May 30. M. Rosengoltz has written to Sir Austen Chamberlain asking permission for the Soviet directors of Arcos, Ltd., and British companies conducting Anglo-Rus-sian trade and also departmental managers and the necessary staff to remain in England to liquidate the business; otherwise immediate liquidation will be ordered, when responsibility for all the damages suffered by the Soviet institutions and citizens and British citizens as the result of speedy liquidation will rest on the British Government. London, May 30. In the House of Commons Mr. Lansbury inquired on what date the photographic copy of the War Offitee document came into the possession of the Government. Captain Hacking, Under-Secretary for Home Affairs, replied that the information that it was missing, together with the Arcos copy of it, were received simultaneously on May 11. Sir Austen Chamberlain announced that Viscount Novar had contented to take charge of British affairs in Russia after the withdrawal of the British Mission

CANADA’S DECISION STANDS.

REPLY TO SOVIET APPEAL. Ottawa, May 30. Canada has dispatched a Note to Moscow declining the Soviet Mission's urgent request to reconsider the decision to end the Trade Treaty. The document alluded to the special privileges accorded to the Mission in Canada, pointing out that its undertaking of propaganda was submersivo of British institutions and was specifically understood to cease throughout the Empire. Evidence to the contrary having been secured by the British Government, Canada felt constrained to abrogate the arrangement.

PASSPORTS FOR BERLIN SOUGHT.

WINDING UP FRQM GERMANY 7 . Received May 31, 9.50 p in. Berlin, May 30. Members of Arcos have applied for German visas with a view of winding up their British business from Berlin. This will probably be granted, provided the numbers are limited and they do not remain in Germany for a lengthy period, since a thousand representatives of an organisation corresponding to Arcos are already operating in Berlin, and this is considered enough.
