THIEF CAUGHT WITH GOODS

DUNEDIN GARAGE ENTERED. ANOTHER CASE DETECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. A charge against James Johnston in the Police Court this morning revealed another ease of a thief being “caught with the goods.” The charge was that of breaking and entering Cooke, Howlison and Oo.’s garage. Senior-Sergeant Quartermain said the man was found there at about 11.15 p.m. yesterday in the act of removing gear, and a shift liver, valued at 255. He admitted being there for the purpose of» theft. The accused was remanded in cutosdy until Monday, bail being refused. * When the employees at the National Mortgage grain and wool store in Cumberland Street opened up this morning they discovered that an undesirable visitor had been there before them, though so far as could be ascertained at the time nothing had been stolen. The visitor had done mischief in the form of setting fire to paper wrappings of a number of grain samples, and in scattering seeds and grain over the floor. Some of the employees were working late last night and it is thought that the interloper may have got into th# premises while these employees were there, for no evidence of a forced ontry could be found to-day.
