SERIOUS DAMAGE TO STOCK. BRIGADE MAKES GOOD SAVE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Serious damage to the stock of Fraser, Ltd., costume and mantle manufacturers, was caused by a fire in a threestoreyed brick building in Rutland Street »t ten o’clock to-night. The fire originated in a switchboard on the first floor and spread rapidly up the staircase to a workroom on the second floor, dlresses and material were badly damaged by ’heat, and probably the losa will be several hundreds of pounds, although it is impossible at present to assess the exact damage. Tne city Are brigade effected a remarkably fine save in preventing the spread of the flames to inflammable materials, the heat and water being responsible for the bulk of the damage. The stariease and walls of the building, particularly on the first and second floors, were badly charred, but the damage on the ground floor was negligible. The building was insured for £4OOO la the Royal Exchange Office, but it is not known whether the stock was insured.
