ATHLETICS.
FORMATION OF HARRIER BRANCH. At a meeting of members of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club last night, it was decided to form a harrier’s branch. This branch is intended to keep the members fit during the winter months, and it was decided that there will be no separate subscription for those taking part in this racing. The captain, vice-captain and Mr. Hutchison were appointed a sub-committee to arrange dates etc., in connection with cross-country racing. For the first few weeks it was decided just to hav e non-competitive runs and, after that, to have one or two races for trophies. It was decided that at least one race a week would be held during the cross-country season. It was also decided to have cycle runs and races during the winter, similar in conditions to the cross-country races. Prizes for these races have already been offered, it was reported.
