DOBSON MINE TRAGEDY
INQUIRY TO BE HELD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Mines (Hon. J. G. Anderson) returned to-day from the West Coast where, amongst other official duties, he paid a visit to the scene of the Dobson mine disaster, Mr. Anderson states that it will take some considerable time for the mine to be “dewatered,” and before inspections of the explosion and to recover the were carried out to ascertain the cause bodies of the entombed miners. The Minister stated that as soon as possible a full inquiry would be held concerning the tragedy, and every effort would be made to learn the cause of the disaster. HELP FOR VICTIMS SOUGHT. Waimate, Last Night. An appeal for financial assistance for ths dependents of the victims of the Dobson mine disaster was not upheld by the Waimate Borough Council, it being held that the dependents had been sufficiently protected by legislation.
