Stormy weather caused the steamer Stratborne, 2803 tons, to run short of coal on her voyage from Nauru Island to Lyttelton, Two days out she met strong winds and rough seas, which continued for a fortnight, the wind at times blowing a gale. At the height of the storm the Strathbone’s speed for 24 honours averaged 24 knots. No damage was done.
