TUBERCULOSIS TREATMENT. VACCINATION OF BABIES. NEW METHOD DISCOVERED. By Telefraph— Press Amd. —Copyright. Received June 18, 7.45 p.m. Paris, June 17. Professor Calmette, lecturing, before the Academy of Medicine, detailed the results of experiments with a new method for the vaccination of new-born babies against tuberculosis. The vaccine is known as calmette-guerin, and the baccilus is supplied by the Pasteur Institute. Out of 137 children belonging to contaminated families treated during the first half of 1922 with the anti-tuberculosis vaccine, none had died of any illness which which was the outcome of tuberculosis, whereas the mortality among non-vaccin-ated children living under similar conditions in Paris was 32 per cent. The vaccine is administered in a spoonful of milk every forty-eight hours from, the third to the tenth day after birth.
