CAMPBELL CASE RECALLED.

Discrepancies in Mr. McDonald’s ex* planations of hi«s shares in McVittie and Company, and the Campbell case, have again 'been brought into prominence following Mr. Baldwin’s discovery of a departmental instruction to Sir Patrick Hastings, Attorney-General, not to proceed with political prosecutions without the sanction of Mr. MacDonald’s Cabinet, whereas Mr. MacDonald ou October 8 emphatically denied -that such an instruction had been given. The Evening News says that the Socialists are flabbergasted. A few more similar incidents will make Mr. MacDonald’s leadership precarious. He is already faced with an ultra-Socialist cave. The Standard scathingly r?fers to tha conduct of people whose professional and administrative positions implied th< essential habit of accuracy.
