DESIRE FOR PAYMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 14. The People says <that Mr. Churchill is urging the CalVnet that France should pay £50,000.000 of her annually, which, with reparations, would enable Is 6d to be taken off the income tax.
Mr. Chamberlain, remembering that Mr. Churchill’s plan is based on the Balfoiir Note of 1922, which greatly annoyed France, is fearful of the project endangering the Entente and the peace of Europe.
Mr. Baldwin is faced with the dilemma of finding a compromise.
