JOCKEY INJURED.
ACCIDENT AT TE AWAMUTU. T. TITO IN SERIOUS CONDITION. FALL DURING CUP RACE. Another racecourse, accident, involving serious injuries to T. Tito, a young Macri rider, occurred at the Waipa Racing Club’s annual meeting at Te Awamutu on Saturday, according to private advice received in New Plymouth.
| The accident occurred, it appears, during the running of the Te Awamutu iCup, in which there were twelve starters, Tito having the mount on Lapidary. ' At Te Awamutu the races are run the ■ reverse way of the course, and a New i Plymouth sportsman who attended the meeting said Lapidary fell on rounding ! the corner for heme. Tito was thrown, sustaining Severe injuries, including, it lis believed, a fractured skull and a broken shoulder-blade.
Tito came into prominence at the Taranaki Jo key Club’s meeting in February, when he brought Cold first in the Taranaki Cup. This success he repeated shortly afterwards when the same horse won the Wanganui Cup. Tito’s most recent success was at Woodville on Wednesday, when he rode Koodoo, the winner of the Oete Handicap
