OIL IN AUSTRALIA.
A GERMAN SWINDLE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Perth, Nov. 29. In connection with the Lake Eva oil discovery, the detective department reports that it found under the bunk of Robert Rothkehl, a German prospector, from whom the syndicate took the option, a tank containing eighty gallons of oil, also six tins of other oils. From the tank pipes led to the bore, where samples of the oil were obtained. Warrants were issued for the arrest of Rothkehl and his mate Thompson a fortnight ago on charges of conspiracy to defraud. Both have disappeared. When the story of the oil find was first told it was alleged that Rothkehl had received a letter from a scientist in Germany, who. it was alleged, made the find before the war and was unable to return to Australia.
