DISTRICT NEWS.
PUNIHOWAREA. (’From Our Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday last the Bishop of Auckland dedicated the new church, St. Mark’s. The parishioners were present in good numbers, and an afternoon tea was partaken of after the service in the church grounds. The weather was so fine that everyone w r as a'ble to picnic without fear of spoiling “Sunday -garments.” The bowling club at the Domain was opened on the <l7tff inst., it proving a very successful gathering, visiting rinks being present from all parts of the coast. A meeting was held in the Warea Hall last week with a view to forming a tennis chib. Those present were very enthusiastic, and a start to prepare a court is to be made at once. The young people of the district are also most anxious for a dance to be held, and there is a rumour one is to be held shortly.
