KAPONGA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Messrs. Newton King Ltd. report that they have received numerous enquiries for the pedigree Jersey sale to be held on Thursday next at Kaponga. Enquiries have been received from north of Auckland and from the South Island. Mr. John Scheuber, who is leaving ivaponga, was entertained at a farewell social in the Convent school on Friday night. There was a large attendance of friends, and >a very pleasant evening was spent by all. Mr. Scheuber was the recipient of a handsome presentation from the assembled company, and suitably responded. Mr. and Mrs. McCarty, who left for Auckland on Saturday, were entertained at a social in the Parish Hall on Thursday evening by the members of the Kaponga Tennis Club. In the absence of the president of the club, Mr. C. E. Betts made the presentations to the guests of the evening, at the same time pointing out the loss to Kaponga’s musical circles by their departure. Quite a number of triends assembled at Mr. Jack Kassick’s residence on Wednesday evening to welcome him and his bride home. Fortunateh’ Mr. Kissick was well prepared, and entertained his visitors royally. Mrs. Melville and Mrs. E. King, who are leaving shortly on an extended holiday trip to Australia, were entertained by the members of the hockey club on Tuesday night, when all present enjoyed themseives thoroughly. I understand that the executors in the estate of the late Mr. R. T. B. Mellow have instructed Messrs. Newton Kino 1 Ltd. to hold a dispersal sale of all his remaining pedigree Holstein cattle, principally two-year-old hetfers. Kaponga is becoming noted for the number and quality of its pedigree stock, which attracts buyers 'from far and near.
