FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
WAIKATO RIVER OVERFLOWS. NO SERIOUS DAMAGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Floods are being experienced at Rangiriri, where the Waikato River has overflowed. The store and post office combined is practically surrounded, and it is only possible to get by boat from the building to the river. The road to the station is practically impassable for motors. The water is rising at Mercer and increased about three and a-half inches on Monday and that night. Many square miles are under water to a depth ranging from a few inches to several feet. No stock losses or serious damage are reported, but further rain may make conditions senA barge containing ninety sacks of coal was washed awav from its moorings at Firth’s pumice mill at Ohinewai and has not been seen since.
