EX-NUN'S ADVENTURE.

Ex-sister Ligouri was returning home with friends last night at 11 o’clock, when she was kidnapped by twenty men and carried, off in a motor car. Her whereabouts are unknown. Tn a statement io the police the Rev. Mr. Touchell, at whose home in Burwood Miss Partridge was staying, said that Joseph Partridge was going to Ireland in the Ceramic and wanted his sister to go, but she declined. Mrs. Touchell said that Miss Partridge feared the influence of the Catholic Church, and had decided to embrace the Protestant faith. At her request a bodyguard had always been provided. The Rev. Mr. Touchell states that Miss Partridge wrote to her brother declining his protection. The party were returning from a religious meeting and had just reached the gate of Mr. Touchell’s residence when attackers appeared. In the scrimmage, Mr. Touchell was somewhat roughly handled, and Mrs. Touchell and another of the party were knocked down in attempting to rescue Miss Partridge, who was borne to a motor car and hurried away. The police are actively searching. The Rev. M. Touchell intends to invoke the Habeas Corpus Act. He states that a few days ago he was warned by a Roman Catholic that a plot was on foot to kidnap Mies Partridge. DISCOVERY OF THE GIRL. SEEKS POLICE PR.OTECTION. FORCIBLY REMOVED FROM HOME. Received Oct. 27, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 27. Ex-Sdster Ligouri was discovered in a city street in company with a friend of her brother, and at her request she was taken to police headquarters, stating that she was forcibly removed from her home last night ami wanted protection. Later all the parties interested, including Ligouribrother, met at a round table conference at police headquarters, at which Ligouri announced she would not go back to her brother nor to the Roman Catholic Church..

Before the conference the ex-Sister stated she was taken last night in a motor ear to a justice of the peace and there signed a statement that she was prepared to go under her brother's protection, providing lie found a suitable place for her. Subsequently she was arrested by the police at Kogarah, on a warrant alleged to have been issued at ithe instance of Dr. Dwyer, Roman * Catholic Bishop of Wagga., who is alleged to have deposed that he deemed her to be of unsound mind. At the subsequent inquiry by Mr. Gale. S.M., Miss Partridge was adjudged to be of sound mind and was discharged. Later ex-Sister Ligouri sued Dr. Dwyer, Roman Catholic Bishop of Wagga, for alleged malicious arrest, whereby her reputation was injured and she suffered great pain to body and mind. She claimed £5OOO damages. After a lengthy hearing the ex-Sister lost her case.
