PROVING THE SYSTEM TO BE BAD.
Received May 19, "5.5 p.m. X"' " London, May 17. Mr Smellie, President of the Coal Miners' Union, received several presentations from his native village of Larkhall. He said he had no intention of ridiculing tho coal-owning Dukca. He was merely aiming to prove that the system was bad, and wished to overturn the present system by constitutional means, avoiding rebellion and bloody revolution. He did not intend to preach contentment until there was reason therefor.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc
