LINCOLN ROAD. (L'rom Our Own Correspondent.) Among our many local bodies in Taranaki, there are,, perhaps, few that call for more free, voluntary labour than do ' tli'oss} of School Committees. The various committees of the past ten or twelve years have given well of their time, energy, and money towards .the upkeep of our little school, but latterly interest iivjjghool mutters has waned on the part of the general householders .and parents, and also on the part of the schoo] comriiittee, 'who,' under the circumstances could not very well be blamed.
The ann.ial meeting of householders takes place on Monday week next, and it is to be hoped that the householders will roll up in force and elect an energetic committee . for the ensuing term, as there is plenty of work and improvements to be done, and therebv assist ,uie present- teacher who undoubtedly deserves encouragement. • ■ Mr. wiieltc'r, the Board's inspector, and Mr. Morrison, Instructor of Agriculture, etc., both paid an official visit to the school on Monday last. The Moa School Committee's Association hold their quarterly meetin" tonight (Friday) when the projected"visit to see the battleship will be discussed by the delegates, and other important business.
That the elements surrounding the province of Taranaki are not always bad has been amply proved bv the beautiful summer just passed,' which will help many a struggling cockie through the coming winter, and stave off that inevitable pinch felt just now that money is so tight. Ploughing has been moving apace, and the general appearance of the country is good for this time of the year. It a rarity to see a x-est' below'4.o now. The average would go somewhere about 15.
Many of the farmers round about here vvere not particularly impressed with the rushabout methods of the late Ministerial visit, especially those who had grievances to ventilate. Our genial snort, Mr. C. Mumbv. took Sandy Paul down the road to his home the other morning. It is hoped that his valuable horse is not permanently injured after his fall at Takapuna. ' Mr. R. Fox Rogers is effecting conimprovements to his property on .the Bristol Road.
