On Friday, 12tli inst., at Waiwakaiho yards, I had a fair entry. Good-con-ditioned cows were in demand. Weaner3 did not meet with as good competition as of late, although some very nice pens were entered. Weaner steers sold at from £1 4s Gd to £1 9s Gd, grade weaner heifers £1 14s to £1 18s, Jersey weaner heifers £2 lis fid to £3 9s, 2-vear steers £4 4s, hulls £2 2s to £5, empty 15 to 18-months heifers £3 2s to £3 10s, in-c'alf 20-months heifers £3 12s Gd to £4 2s, Jersey springing heifers £7 10s, Jersey iu-calf heifers £6, store and forward cows up to £4 7s, fat cows £5 10s to £5 15s, f.m. ewes 7s to 8s 6d. On Monday, at Toko, there was a small entry, which sold as follows: Mixed weaners £1 3s to £2 ss, weaner steers £1 Is to £1 8s Cd,. Weaner heifers £1 lis Gd to £3 os (according to quality), store cows £3 2s Od to £4, bulls £6 12s Cd, in-calf heifers £5 ss, forward ewes and wethers 13s, 4 and G-tooth wethers 15s 3d.

For my fortnightly sale at the Stratford yards there was a good entry of 950 head of cattle and 932 sheep. Bidding for cattle was slack, except for colored Jersfey heifers, cows and bulls. Sheep met with a good demand, the whole entry, with the exception of one pen of wethers (cleared later in the day), being sold at the hammer. Weaner steers made from about £1 10s to £1 17s 6d, weaner heifers (good) £2 0s 6d to £2 19s Gd, mixed weaners £1 13s to £1 IBs fid, fat cows £5 6s to £5 10s, forward cows £4 4s to £4 IGs, store cows £2 lis fid to £3 12s Gd, empty 20-months heifers £3 10s to £4, in-calf 20-months heifers £3 10s, springing heifers £6, bulls £3 15s to £lO 2s 6d, store pigs £1 Gs, f.m. ewes £3, wethers 15s 4d, lambs 5s 8d to 9s Gd.

Clearing sale.-At Omata on Monday, for Mr. F. J. Bovett's clearing sale, there was a large attendance. Biddin" for all lines offered was good. Young dairy cows made from £8 10s to £ll aged cows £3 to £6 10s, three-quarter-brecf cows, £5, Jersey weaner heifers £3 Os 6d, Holstein heifer c&*"»s £1 7s disc harrows £B, dray £4 15s, bull £G 10s, Omata Factory shares lis, white Leghorn pullets up to 4s 4d. There was an entry of 7300 fat lambs, of which a good proportion was prime lambs, but more light and unfinished lots than have been offered of late. Prices were on the whole equal to those of last week, and averaged about 5V 2 d to 5%d per lb; tegs made 17s 6d to 235, ordinary freezers 5s Gd to 17s 9d, light and unfinished 14s 3d to 15s.

The yarding of fat sheep totalled about 1000, and was made up chiefly of ewes. Exporters operated freely in both wethers and ewes, and owing to the number of prime lines of former being limited there was an improvement in prices. The range ol prices was:—Prime wethers IDs 6d to 235, extra to 245, lighter 16s to IDs, merino wethers 13s to 15s Id, prime medium 14s to 16s, aged and light 10s Gd to 13s Od, merino ewes 10s lOd. The entry of fat cattle totalled 370. Beef made 21s to 29s per 1001b (according to quality), steers realised £7 15s to £l, extra to £ls 10s, heifers £6 to £lO 17s 0d and £5 2s 6d to £9 sa. Prices for veal valves ranged from 8s to £3 Bs, according to quality. Store cattle—Fifteen to 18-months sorts £3 3s to £3 17s Od, 2-year steers £5 8s to £5 lis, 2'/»-year steers £6 Ts od.' 3-year steers £7 10s to £7 17s (the latter being passed), and cows £1 10s to £4 15s. Dairy cows were again in fair demand, prices ranging from £4 10s to £lO ss. The yarding of fat pigs was at large one—Choppers realised £3 to £4 10s and heavy baeoners £3 7s 8d to £3 14s 6d (these prices being equivalent to 5d per lb), lighter baeoners 55s to 65s (equal to SVid per lb), heavy porkers 45s to 50s, lighter descriptions 38s to 42s 6d (equal to 6d to per lb). A good yarding of store pigs met with a slack demand. Best class realised 30s to 355, medium 18s to 2os, weaners 7s to IDs.

BURNSI'DK At Burnside there was a full yarding of fat eattle, 240 head being penned. The entry consisted mainly of lightweight bullocks. At the beginning of the sale prices showed a drop of 15s to 20s as compared with last week's rates, and us the sale progressed the demand slackened. Sales being very hard to effect, a large proportion of the yarding was passed in, Fat cattle—Best bullocks £lO 15s to £l2 l"s 6d, extra to £l4, medium to good £9 10s to £lO 10s, light £8 to £O, best cows and heifers £7 10s to £8 10s, extra to £9 12s fid, medium to good £5 10s to £7.

Fat sheep—4oo penned. The yarding was largely in excess of butchers' requirements. Prime wethers sold at prices much on a par with last week's rates, but medium and unfinished sorts showed a drop of Is to Is Cd. Freezing buyers operated keenly for ewes, and prices did not suffer to any extent. Ewes not fit for freezing were a little easier. Prime wethers 21s to 24s fid, extra to 28s, medium to good 18s 6d to 20s, light 16s to 17s Hi], prime ewes 10s to 19s, extra heavy to 28s, medium to good 1.4s 6d to 16s, light 10s fid to 13 s. Fat lambs—There was a full yarding 2410 being penned. The entrv inclucV ed a fair proportion of good quality lamlis. Last week's prices were fully maintained.
