Madame Clerc lias been arrested for bribing a man named Parrat, recently in a lunatic asylum, to murder her husband, a well-to-do artist engraver. Parrat was hidden in Clerc's house for two days. He accosted the pair on returning from the theatre, and a fired a revolver at the husband, wounding him fatally. The wife gave, him 500 francs, and Parrat escaped. Cross-examined, a servant girl enabled the detectives to force Madam Clerc to confess.
