APPORTIONMENT OF THE COST. After visiting the site of the proposed new hospital on Thursday with the architect, the Inspector-General of Hospitals and the medical staff, the Board met at the office and passed a resolution approving the plans of the »ew hospital as submitted by the, architects, subject to some minor modifications recommended by the medical staff, and decided that plans be prepared accordingly, showing (1) the complete scheme as approved; (2) the part of the scheme which the Board had decided to put in hand forthwith, viz., the wards and administration block and annexes as outlined on tlie general plan, the eastern ward outpatients' offices excepted. The secretary was instructed to notify the, various contributing authorities of the proposal to erect the new hospital, notifying that the Board will proceed in this matter under section 40, clause 10, of the Hospitals Act, 1908, and informing them of the approximate amount which they will be prepared to contribute, estimating the cost of the buildings at £30,000. The amounts, based on the valuation of 1900, will be approximately as follows, the Government contributing £1 for £1: Taranaki County, £5187; Egmont County, £3624; New Plymouth Borough, £2913; Oliftoh County, £1847; Waitara Borough, £490; Ingle wood Borough, £362; Fitzroy Town District, £325; St. Aubyn Town District, £250.
