GOOD TEMPLARY

•NEW LODGE-ROOM OPENED. The Egmont Lodge, 1.0. G.T., opened its new lodge-room in the Good Templar Hall (which is now being erected) last night, celebrating it with an "open night" to entertain temperance workers generally. There was a good attendance, C.T. Bro. G. VV. Hartnell opening the lodge meeting which preceded the social gathering. Reports were received from the Mission Committee, stating that arrangements were being made for Miss Grimley's mission to open at Waitara on August 3, and for successive meetings throughout North Taranaki for a month, includi»g a special week in New Plymouth, commencing on August 10 in the new Good Templar Hall, which will thus receive its baptism of work. Bro. T. Keating, of Pioneer Lodge, Wellington, conveyed greetings, and spoke a few words of encouragement. The social evening was in charge of Bro. J. C. and Sis. Mrs. Legg, the former taking the chair. He welcomed the visitors, and congratulated the lodge on having now entered into possession of such a commodious and convenient permanent home. The Rev. Bro. Liddell gave a stirring temperance address, impressing on the workers his own motto, "At it, all at it. always at it!" The following programme was given, and much enjoyed, followed by a capital supper, which was equally enjoyable: Pianoforte solo, Bro. Lewis; song, Mrs. Yates; club swinging, Sis. B. Legg; song, Sis. A. Legg; song (by special request), "Dream of Paradise," Mr. B. Clark; song, Miss Butler; harp solo. Bro. Ricketts; recitation, Sis. B. Legg; pianoforte solo (by request), '-Storm," Bro. Lewis; song, Miss Butler. During the evening the lodge was presented with lodge furniture and pictures by several of the members, who were accorded the hearty thanks of the lodge.
