CHARGES AGAINST THE ATTORNEYGENERAL. Py Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Washington, July 6. James Wickersham, District Court Judge in Alaska, the Congress delegate at the inquiry into the alleged irregularities in Alaska, has laid a charge before the Judiciary Committee of the House against Mr. John Wickersham, Attorney-General, of deliberately permitting the Statute of Limitations to elapse against the agents of the Alaska syndicates who defrauded the Government through perjury. The amount involved is £IO,OOO. The committee ordered an inquiry, the Attorney-Gen-eral to produce all documentary evidence in his possession. The alleged fraud is in connection with coal contracts. The Attorney-General, who received evidence, failed to act thereon until the expiry of the statutory time. The syndicate is said to comprise prominent English and American financiers.
