MYSTERIOUS SHOOTING AFFAIR. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, July 17. A mysteriouß tragedy took place in Scott street, Newcastle, in broad daylight yesterday. Charles McGuire, alias Michael Daley, was shot dead, but nobody is known to have witnessed the occurrence. Thomas Jones and George Smith, who were standing near, were arrested on «harges of vagrancy, and another man, the owner of the revolver used, states that Jones and Smith visited him for a drink. lie afterwards missed his revolver, which was subsequently found on the footpath near the deceased by Smith, deceased'B companion.
