CONTROL OF THE KBVT STATION. FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION ) Wellington, March 24. Complete control of the Doubtless Bay cable station will bi left to the Gable Baud, so that the staff brought out by Mr Reynolds will work the land 88 well as th» ocean linaf. The nomination of a superintendent for the station was left to the New Zealand Government, who appointed Mr Hertzlett, Chief Clerk at Greymouth, several officers senior to him declining.
TBS CABLE LANDKO AT DOUBTLESS BAY. Auckland, March 24. Sir Joseph Ward and party reached Doubtless Bay about noon to-day. Sjon after Sir Joseph went off to the Anglia, and was welcomed by Cap'ain Geach and officers. It was reported that there had not been a break or fan't in the cable from Biisbane to Doubtless Bay. On Sunday morning the last act but one was carried out in making the connection with the shore, viz., cutting the cable about 30 miles outside Doubtless Biy and buoying the end. This morning tbe end of the cable wis landed and buoyed ashore with barrels. After inspectiug the vessel Sir Joseph and par-'y adjourned to the Anglia's saloon, Mr. Lucas, Eigineer-in-Chief of the Ttlsgraph Construction and Maintenance Company of Greenwich, which is lajing the cabla, proposed success to New Zealand, to which the Minister replied, and pro posed tbe health of the Pacific (J..bl i Board, to which Mr Rignold, general manager, replied. A vetse of the National Anthem concluded the ceremony.
The Anglia is coming to Auckland about March 27th.
Sir Joseph Ward and party made an inspection of the cable st ition bidding, and left again by the Tufanakti fo' Auckland at five o'c'ock.
