NELSON DOC TRIALS ASSOCIATION

SUCCESSFUL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Nelson Dog Trials Association was held on Mr. Gr. Macmahon's grounds, Tapa'wera, on Easter Saturday and Monday in perfect weather, and was a great success. AJ large crowd from all parts of the district gathered on Easter Monday to witness the open events, and keen interest was taken in the work of the various dogs. The judge was Mr L. Elliott, of South Canterbury. The sheep supplied by Messrs. Gibbs Bros, were described by the judge as being a particularly good lot, and the judge also remarked that the method adopted by the committee of letting them go worked splendidly. A dinner, held in Mr. Greep's boardinghouse in the evening terminated a very successful meeting. The following are the results:— Head, bring back, hold in ring and yard (maiden dogs): It. Parkes's Glen, 68 points, 1; F. Hodgkinson's Boss, 60, 2; A. Kerr's Jim, 58, 3; G. Biggs's Pvoss, 55, 4. Hunt away, through 3 sets of flags and slew (maiden dogs): R. Coleman's Watty, 38 points, 1; J. Tomlinson's Nut, 36, 2; J. Tpmlinson's Black, 34. 3; R. Christian's Tip, 32, 4. Head, bring back, hold In ring, and yard (open): Jas. Eden's Scott, 59 point 3, 1; E. Christian's Tip, 57, 2; A. Gibbs's Glen, 54, 3; Andrew Kerr's Eobb. 53, 4. Hunt away, through 3 sets of flags and slew (open): L. Mead's Rag, 43 points, 1; F. Lines's Black, 42, 2; R. Coleman's Watty, 41 points, 3; A. Kerr's Rob, 40, 4. P. B. Adams, 15s for dog under best command No. 1 event: E. Christian's E. Buxton and Co., trophy value 10s 6d, for quickest and quietest head, No. .'I-event: R. Parkes's Glen. Loan and Mercantile, trophy, tin of tea value 15s, for dog with most noise in No. 2 event: G. L. Mead's Nell. Dalgety and Co., trophy, tin of tea value 15s, for dog under 'best command In No. 2 event: J. Tomlinson's Nut. John A. Wilkinson, 10s 6d, for dog under best command in No. I event: P. Coleman's Wattie. A. C. Maginnity, 15s 3 for quickest :md quietest head in No. 3 event: F. Oummings's Black. Pitt and Moore, 10s 6d. for dog with most noise in No, 4 event: G. L. Mead's Rag. J. Glasgow, 15s, for dog under best command in No. 3 event: E. Christian's Tip. Stepping Competition (correct distance 63yds-Ift 4in) :S. Wadsworth, 63yds Ift 2in, 1; E. Eden, 63yds lft,. 2. ■Guessing weight of three fat sheep (correct weight, 2101TG): Len. Tomlinson, 21(Mb, J. Connor 21O£lb, W. F. Colemanl 210|Ib. All three guessed the correct weight, so they divided the first and second prizes. Hnvi.HK won the cup for hunt^ away, No. 4 event, two wins in succession, G. L.
