A large number of plate classes for ( pears are provided. | In the miscellaneous section, are classes for various other fruits, nuts, cider, vinegar, wine, etc. Tho domestic section calls for jams,; jellies, preserved fruits, sauces, pick-' ies, apples and other fruits cooked in various ways. .An appic pie coinpetit-: ion is provided for pupils of technical schools and the Girls' College, foi^ which very attractive prizes are offered* by J. Stewart and Co. School children are given a class, and arc invited to write an essay on ''The! Apple." This will be open to the whole' province, but no child in a class above; Standard VI. may compete. - The essay j must be written at school, and must nob! exceed 250 words. First, prize £1, 2nd 10s, and four of 2s 6d each. .Packing competitions for men and women complete the schedule. Apples in case classes will be judged on commercial sizes, and in plate classes; on exhibition sizes. Score cards will bo used.
