SUSPECTED CASE ON MONOWAI.
TURNS OUT GASTRIC TROUBLE.
Christchurch, April 7. Some uneasiness was caused at Lyttelton yesterday by the receipt of the news that there was an epidemic suspect on bparjl the Monowai, which arrived from Wellington' and Auckland. The patient, a woman passenger, was brought to Christchureh Hospital for observation. DrJ Chesson, District Health Officer, stated to-day that the ease was certainly not pneumonic influenza and symptoms really pointed to gastric trouble. Referring to the fact that the Monowai came from Auckland, Dr. Chesson remarked that she left there two days before the Niagara arrived, so there would be no need for i anxiety on that account. !
